Corner-to-corner squares

This is the first square of my next project, which is the baby version of this blanket: You can find a tutorial for the corner-to-corner pattern here  for the squares. The edging for the squares and outer border is the classic granny square pattern. Yarn for the adult twin-sized version: 4 skeins of Caron Big Cakes in Shadowberry (no longer available) for the squares, 1 skein of Caron Simply Soft in Black  for the square and overall borders (for full, queen, or king-sized beds you will need more yarn and more squares). For the squares you can choose any brand of self-striping yarn of any colorway and any color solids for the borders for the squares and overall blanket. Yarn for the baby version: about 2/3 skein of Loops & Threads Snuggly Wuggly Big yarn in Pee Wee Prints, about 1/4 to 1/3 skein of Loops & Threads Snuggly Wuggly Big yarn in Soft Yellow for the border. Granny square rose afghan

I've finally decided to get my email, blogs, and other web stuff out of graduate school mode and into chemistry professor mode, especially since I've been teaching college chemistry continuously since 2010! I'll be phasing out my other blogs, so I'll be posting content about my crochet projects, chemistry education, really bad poetry, recipes, and other stuff on this blog. Just a sneak peek at my latest project (pattern from Craft Elf) : So far I've completed 26 out of 42 squares: when I posted this Tuesday on Instagram and my personal Facebook (I no longer have the Facebook account), I had completed 20. I have the yarn for another version of this afghan.  The above project was completed in 2018 with additions in 2019 as the person who bought it needed additional length on the afghan.
